Pristine hunting experiences and pure adventure
Tanzania as a hunting destination
Tanzania—this is dangerous game hunting in its purest form! Tanzania—this is the realm of heavy-bossed cape buffalo and trophy bulls! Tanzania—this is a homage to the legends of the trade. Robert Ruark hunted here, as did Ernest Hemingway, Theodore Roosevelt, and many others. Today, Tanzania still promises raw adventure, arduous stalks, and thrilling pursuits of the "Big Five."
Tanzania—formerly Tanganyika—is an East African nation bordering the Indian Ocean, sharing boundaries with Kenya, Uganda, the DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique. Across a landmass of 945,087 square kilometers lives a population of nearly 41 million. While Dodoma serves as the official capital, Dar es Salaam remains the seat of government and the country's largest metropolis. Independent since December 9, 1961, Tanzania has been a member of the Commonwealth of Nations ever since. Geographically, the country splits into three distinct regions: a narrow coastal strip with a tropical climate, the Maasai Steppe in the north, and a vast high plateau in the south. While the world-renowned Serengeti Sanctuary lies in the northwest, every true African sportsman shares one ultimate dream: to hunt the legendary Selous. Encompassing nearly 50,000 square kilometers of virtually uninhabited wilderness, this hunting paradise is divided into 45 designated blocks leased long-term to select outfitters—a sporting realm second to none.
