Thrilling hunting experiences in the southern hemisphere
Argentina as a hunting destination
Argentina is South America's second-largest nation after Brazil, boasting a vast north-to-south extent that encompasses diverse climatic and vegetation zones. Declaring its independence from the Spanish Colonial Empire in 1816, the country has grown into a true sportsman's paradise. The towering Andes, expansive dry savannas, rugged Patagonia, and the lush, marshy wetlands of Mesopotamia provide pristine habitats for a remarkably varied array of game. Here, hunting opportunities range from familiar European big game species to water buffalo, axis deer, and puma.
Covering a total area of 2,780,400 square kilometers with a population of around 40 million, Argentina remains sparsely populated. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Chile to the west, Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, and Brazil and Uruguay to the northeast. Its economic heart and primary metropolis is Buenos Aires, situated on the eastern coast. The Andes—the world's longest continental mountain range—dominate the western borderlands. In the central north lies the Gran Chaco, a vast and arid savanna realm. Moving east along the Río Paraná, rolling hills lead into the province of Misiones, while further south between the Paraná and Uruguay rivers stretch the humid marshes of Mesopotamia. Extending west and south of Buenos Aires are the fertile Pampas, sweeping grasslands driving the nation's agriculture and vast cattle ranches. In central Argentina, between the Pampas and the Andes, rise the peaks of the Sierras Pampeanas, reaching elevations up to 6,250 meters. Finally, sweeping across the south, wind-swept Patagonia delivers a rugged terrain defined by a harsh, dramatic climate.
