When thinking of hunting in England, most people first think of the now-banned traditional fox hunt. However, with its long and grand hunting tradition, the country has significantly more to offer. The south of the country, in particular, has distinguished itself in recent years. Areas like Gloucestershire, Devon, Somerset, or Dorset, to name just a few, stand out. The lowlands of Southern England, characterized by rolling hills and wide valleys, form an ideal habitat for roe deer, but good populations of Chinese water deer and muntjac can also be found here.
With a total area of 242,432 km², England has a population of nearly 60 million. The country borders Scotland to the north, Wales and the Irish Sea to the west, and is separated from the European mainland to the south and east by the English Channel and the North Sea. The most important city is the capital, London, located in the south of the country, which is also one of the world's most significant cultural, financial, and commercial centers. The highest mountain is Scafell Pike at 978 meters. The north of the country is characterized by vast mountain regions and moorlands, while gentle hill landscapes and valleys stretch across the center and south. The climate is oceanic with frequent precipitation. Due to the Gulf Stream, the southwest enjoys mild winters and warmer summers.
