Hungary as a hunting destination

Hungary is one of the most popular and well-known hunting destinations in Eastern Europe and is primarily famous for its very old hunting tradition, which is highly similar to the German one. The fertile Danube floodplains, the vast and arid Puszta, the beautiful low mountain ranges like the Bakony Forest and the Bükk Mountains, and of course the massive Lake Balaton shape Hungary's magnificent landscape. The game here is also of exceptional quality. Massive red and fallow deer, strong mouflon rams, roebucks with impressive trophies, and heavy wild boars can still be hunted here with very good chances of success. Driven hunts in this country are internationally renowned for top-quality organization and bags. Let yourself be inspired by the excellent hunting opportunities in this wonderful country.

With a total area of 93,036 km², Hungary has approximately 9.9 million inhabitants. The country borders Slovakia to the north, Ukraine to the northeast, Romania to the east, Serbia and Croatia to the south, and Slovenia and Austria to the west. The most important city is Budapest in the north of the country. About 98% of the country lies below 400 meters. The Danube divides Hungary into the Little and Great Hungarian Plains. The Little Plain is located in the northwest of the country and is mainly formed by the Győr Basin. Gently rolling terrain with small hills characterizes the landscape, and intensive agriculture is practiced on the fertile loess soils found there. The Great Hungarian Plain in the east covers about half of the total national territory. Drainage and deforestation here created the typical Puszta landscape with its sandy soils. The terrain is very flat and is primarily used for livestock grazing. The low mountain ranges run from the Zemplén Mountains in the northeast to the Bakony Forest in the west. Almost all low mountain ranges in Hungary are covered with dense deciduous forest at higher elevations. The slopes and basins are covered with fertile soils that support arable farming, fruit growing, and viticulture.
