Romania as a hunting destination

Hardly any other country in Europe is steeped in as many myths and legends as Romania, above all, the mystery-shrouded Carpathians. Anyone who has ever seen this impressive mountain landscape with its mist-shrouded primeval forests will understand why the magic of the Carpathians has cast a spell over so many hunters and never let them go. Bears, wolves, lynx, and strong stags roam here, and massive chamois can be found in the Southern Carpathians.

With a total area of 238,391 km², Romania has a population of around 20 million. The country borders Ukraine to the north, Hungary and Serbia to the west, Bulgaria to the south, and Moldova and the Black Sea to the east. The capital and economic metropolis is Bucharest, located in the southern part of the country.

The interior of the country is dominated by the Carpathians, with Moldoveanu (2,544 m) as the highest peak. To the west, the Apuseni Mountains separate the country from the Hungarian Plain. In the south lies the Danube lowland. The mountain regions are heavily forested and, depending on the altitude, are characterized by beech, oak, mixed, and coniferous forests. Romania experiences a temperate continental climate, though significant temperature fluctuations can occur due to the high altitudes. On the Black Sea coast in the east, a Mediterranean climate prevails.
