In the Kalahari, our partner offers a truly unique hunting experience across 15,000 hectares. Situated approximately 60 kilometers from the nearest lodge, this area is home to game such as eland, blue wildebeest, oryx, springbok, and red hartebeest. The open terrain provides for a truly thrilling hunt. Accommodations consist of a tented camp located deep within the Kalahari—a choice made to spare hunters the 60-kilometer commute both morning and evening. Anyone who sits by the campfire outside their tent at night—gazing up at the canopy of stars, feeling the desert breeze, and listening to the calls of the jackals—will not soon forget such evenings. This hunt is truly an ideal choice for nature enthusiasts eager to fully immerse themselves in the wilderness.

The Great Karoo is renowned for its abundant springbok populations. Within this 15,000-hectare open-range area, several hundred springbok must be harvested annually. This hunt is perfectly suited for small groups of four or more hunters. Drives are conducted daily, and marksmen with a steady aim are highly valued here, as shots over considerable distances are frequently required. Engaging in a mobile hunt while dressed in shorts and a short-sleeved shirt offers a refreshing alternative to the winter driven hunts typically experienced in Europe. Accommodations are provided in a rustic lodge, with guests staying in double rooms.

The prime hunting season runs from February through October. Hunting does not take place on Sundays; however, the Eastern Cape offers a wealth of sightseeing opportunities. Whether visiting famous wildlife reserves such as Addo Elephant Park or Shamwari Game Reserve, relaxing in Port Alfred on the shores of the Indian Ocean, or taking a stroll through Grahamstown to explore its local museums—there is never a dull moment in the Eastern Cape.

After a quick breakfast, you will head out in the early morning hours—usually just before sunrise—for your first stalk with your professional hunter and tracker. Initially, you will drive to elevated vantage points to glass the vast landscape. If suitable game is spotted, you will begin the stalk, utilizing every available bit of cover and the wind to your advantage. Following a second breakfast or lunch, you will head out for another stalk in the afternoon. You will then wind down the evening with a magnificent dinner on the veranda or by the fire in the lodge.

It is crucial to choose a firearm you trust and know intimately. If this rifle happens to be a .30-06, it is entirely sufficient and can be used without hesitation, provided it is handled with the necessary care. When loaded with heavy-grain ammunition, the .30-06 is perfectly adequate for all antelope species. However—given the immense size and bulk of the animals—we recommend using a more powerful caliber for Eland, Kudu, and Oryx to ensure the necessary penetration. It is worth remembering that large Eland bulls can significantly exceed the mass of a Cape Buffalo. Calibers such as the 8x68 S, 8x75 RS, .338 Win. Mag., 9.3x62, 9.3x64, and similar options are proven and suitable choices. Even "older," slower calibers—such as the 8x57 IS and 8x60 S—are suitable, provided one takes their ballistic limitations into account. Below, you will find some information regarding suitable bullets for various game species. Naturally, when hunting a variety of game species, one must be prepared to make certain compromises when selecting a caliber. In this regard, it is extremely important to use "hard" bullets—such as TUG, Barnes X, ID Classic, A-Frame, Nosler, and similar types. A firearm intended for hunting in Africa should be robust and durable. While traveling in a safari vehicle, the rifle is exposed to vibrations, bumps, and jolts. When stalking through the thornbush, scratches and scuffs are often virtually unavoidable. Therefore, for a safari, one should carry a practical working tool rather than a "showpiece." Furthermore, it is important to bear in mind that sand and dust can penetrate almost any mechanism and lead to malfunctions. Regarding the importation of firearms into South Africa, please note that individuals under the age of 21 are not permitted to bring weapons into the country! However, we have a sufficient supply of rental firearms available on-site.
