Hunting roebucks in Estonia is our insider tip, so to speak. „Why?“, you will probably ask. In no other European country can you hunt strong roebucks so cheaply. In Estonia the 500 g roebuck does not yet cost € 1,000, in Hungary or Poland you pay three times as much.

Informations about European roe deer (capreolus capreolus)

European roe deer is the most widespread and most common hoofed game in Europe. Depending on the region, weights of up to 30 kg can be achieved. It is a very territory-loyal forest and field inhabitant. In summer, the bucks mostly stand alone, the does stand together with fawns. In the winter time roe deer join together in small herds. The bucks occupy their territories in March/April and defended them against competitors until the end of the rut in August. Roe deer is primarily active in the early morning and evening hours. The sense of smell is pronounced, the eyes are not the best but roe deer can notice faster motions.

Hunting method/hunting season

On 1st of June the roebuck hunt in Estonia starts. This is also a special day for Estonians, as buck hunting is very popular throughout the Baltic States. Since there is a lot of stalking in Estonia, the shot from the shooting stick is almost always the norm. There are also high seats, but they are rarely used. The flat terrain and the varied landscape invite you to stalk. Let yourself be pleasantly surprised.

Generally all calibres, which are approved for cloven-hoofed game, can be used for roebuck hunting. The weapon import is completely problem-free. All you need is your identity card or passport and the European Firearms Pass, that's all. But we take care of the formalities. Of course, low-noise and weatherproof clothing, well worn and robust shoes and a small backpack are also important.

During your stay you usually live in well developed hunting lodges in the hunting area or nearby. Depending on the hunting grounds, it can also be a private accommodation or a small hotel. We will usually inform you before you start your trip.

All rooms are furnished with great attention to detail, the sanitary facilities almost always meet western standards. But please do not expect excessive comfort, you will not find it in the rural and remote regions. The Estonians are very hospitable people and very soon you will feel like part of the team and not as a paying guest.
