Plains game Shona

Namibia

Selective hunting is applied conservation! Sustainable hunting is selective hunting. Only certain animals of a population in a natural environment are released to be shot to guarantee sustainability. The philosophy of Shona Hunting is that game should not be hunted just for the size of its horns or tusks. Too long a stigma has been created in the non-hunting community that African game is hunted only for its trophies and sustainability is not guaranteed. The revenues from the commercial hunt make important contributions to various factors. These include, for example, the acquisition of land for the construction of protected areas, the development of an infrastructure and a sound management plan for the preservation of a natural habitat.

THE HUNT

Shona is known for excellent and very strong trophies, which also appear every year in the Top 10 of Namibia. Of course, this is due to the philosophy of the owners. Only old and mature trophies get shot and for over 18 years hunting on this estate was performed very sustainable!

The team of professional hunters and trackers will accompany you throughout your hunting safari. They will discuss with you what kind of hunting you prefer. Basically, hunters are stalking on Shona. 4x4 vehicles are available throughout the entire hunt. For hunting and wildlife watching, but also for photographing, people climbe the rocks to reach higher points for a perfect view.

After a quick breakfast in the early hours, usually just before sunrise, you will be on the stalk with your professional hunter and the tracker. If suitable game comes in sight, you will try to approach it in consideration of wind and coverage. After a further breakfast or lunch, a second stalking follows which will last until sunset.

Hunting in Namibia is allowed from the 1st of February to the 31st of November and chances are good during this time. For Europeans the Namibian winter, from May to September, is most likely to be recommended as the temperatures during the day are not too high and the nights are pleasantly cool.

ACCOMMODATION

The Tualuka Safari Lodge has four luxurious chalets to accommodate guests. The chalets are beautifully embedded in the African hills. Each chalet has its own bathroom and private veranda. The views from the veranda on the African flora and fauna are breathtaking. Two of the chalets each have separate dressing rooms, while the other two each have an additional bedroom, making them particularly suitable for families.

In our main lodge you can enjoy a drink at our magnificent bar, read a book in the comfortable lounge or just relax. You will also like our excellent cuisine! Many of our tasty dishes are prepared on the open fire - you will be amazed. In the evening at the campfire, you can then review the day of the hunt and convey your hunting experiences.

During the hot summer days, our pool invites you to cool off. But otherwise it will never be boring for the non-hunting companions. While hunting, non-hunting family members can choose from a variety of activities, such as guided game drives, day trips to the Etosha Nature Reserve or the Skeleton Coast.
