Informations about European mouflon (Ovis ammon musimon)

The original distribution area of European mouflon is on the Mediterranean islands of Corsica and Sardinia.

Mouflon rams can reach withers heights of up to 90 cm and a body weight between 25 kg and 45 kg. The females are slightly smaller in terms of body measurements and weight.

On the head the rams carry curled horns, with which they fight with other opponents during the rutting time in October/November.

The eyesight is very well developed, and therefore hunting is not quite easy. They emit a loud whistle as a warning sound.

Hunting method/hunting season

In Poland, mouflon can be hunted from 1 October to end of February. It doesn't matter whether you hunt in Oktober, during rutting or at the end of December in the snow. The Polish professional hunters know exactly where the game is during different seasons.

You will be guided by an experienced professional hunter. Hunting takes place in the morning and evening hours in combination of raised hide and stalking.

Equipment

The equipment does not have any special requirements for this hunt. The clothes should be adapted to the season, it is best to bring a set of a little warmer and a set of lighter clothing with you. 

In addition, you should of course take good binoculars with 8x or higher magnification, to be able to spot the ram correctly. For the calibers you can use all common sizes from 7 mm and higher.

Accomodation

During your stay you will live in well developed hunting lodges in the hunting district. Polish cuisine enjoys a very good reputation and you will find that it is quite justified. It's not uncommon for hunters to return with a few more pounds on their hips after a week of hunting.
